The Idaho Falls Chukars stacked four ninth-inning runs on the Orem Owlz on Friday night to sneak back to their hotel with a 10-9 road victory.
The Chukars led 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh when a ping-pong scoring match ensued over the final three innings.
First the Owlz took a 5-4 lead with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Idaho Falls answered with two runs of their own in the top of the eighth to regain the advantage 6-5.
Not to be outdone, the Owlz slapped three more on the scoreboard in the bottom of the eighth to secure an 8-6 advantage.
The Chukars responded with a 4-spot in the top of the ninth for a 10-8 advantage.
Orem then made a go at winning one for the home fans, sending six runners to the plate before Chukars reliever David Middendorf struck out Adrian Gutierrez with the winning run on second base.
Idaho Falls leadoff hitter and shortstop Adalberto Mondesi led the Chukars’ offense, finishing 3 for 5 with a homer and two RBI.
Nick Cuckovich, Parker Morin and Ysmelin Alcantara each had two hits, combining for four runs, two doubles and six RBI.
The two teams face off again tonight, tied atop the Pioneer League South standings at 4-2. First pitch is scheduled for 7.
